Picks this week!!

I have been so busy I almost forgot to post my picks..Well here goes!!!

UGA/GT - Last weeks beating of Miami by GT served as a wakeup call for the Dawgs. Look for UGA to come out fired up in what comes down to a recruiting battle for the state of Georgia. GT is a solid team with a good QB and they will pressure the Dawgs all day on defense. If UGA can find a way to run the ball and not put all the pressure on Shockley UGA will win. 24-20Dawgs

FSU/Florida - Both teams have struggled throughout the year and for the first time in a long time this games really means nothing to either side. If FSU can find a way to win its remaining 3 games they will finish with a 10 win season...which would be pretty incredible considering the struggles the last few weeks. Chris Leak needs to step forward and lead this team...or his time at QB for the Gators could be short. Both defenses started out strong but have faded throughout the year. I give the slight edge on offense to the Gators...and thus the edge in the game. 21-17 Gators

UT/Kentucky - For some reason the mighty Wildcats feel they have a chance in this game. Come on fellas this is football not hoops. As bad as UT is this year....your worse. UT will have no problem with the cats and should end the season with a W. I actually dont think this one will be close. 35-14 Volunteers

Texas/T A&M - Coach Fran gets one more year at College Station to turn the program around. If not he's outta here, unfortunately this game probably wont improve his standing with the fans or help his cause with the university. UT is better in every aspect of the game and it will show on Friday....Look for a blowout in the second half!! 48-17 Horns

MTSU/Troy - MTSU fired Andy Mccullum last week as head coach. This was a piss poor decision in my mind. Mccullum took this team over from "Boots" Donnelley when it was in very poor shape. He has improved the facilities and level of play at MTSU. Its tough to win at a mid major when you constantly have to play money games against the big boys in the SEC and ACC. Troy is struggling and has suspended 5 starters for the final game due to rules violations. Unfortunately one of those starters is their Freshman QB! Look for this to be a low scoring game but for MTSU to pull it out in the 4th quarter. 17-14 Raiders

That's all I got this week.....Hope everyone is have a great Thanksgiving weekend. Stay Safe!!!!

I am back...and so are my PICKS!!!

Alabama/Auburn- If the tide had won last week this would have turned out to be the biggest Iron bowl in recent history!!! This will still be a HUGE game with large ramifications depending on how LSU finishes out. The Tide has the best defense in the SEC in my opinion. No one is gonna blow then out..PERIOD. Their offense has definantly felt the loss of Prothro but Brody Croyle is an experienced QB and from what I can tell a great leader. Auburn has a good defense, but not great. UGA exposed their pass defense a little last week, but AU's run defense still appears to be strong. Kenny Irons is a STUD at the RB position and as long as Brandon Cox doesn't loose the game for them it should stay close. This game is an absolute tossup for me...I give the edge to Auburn simply because of home field advantage. 21-20 Tigers!!!

Fresno State/USC- If USC is going to loose this will be the game. Fresno is an outstanding team. I watched them destroy a good Boise State team to win the WAC conference. Pat Hill has done wonders with the Bulldog program!!! USC is USC, with Bush and Leinart its gonna be a tough task for Fresno. If USC has a weakness its their defense and FSU has an outstanding offense. I Cant believe I am picking this way.......35-28 Fresno!!!

Miami/GT - Canes are gonna eat the Wrecks lunch in this game. I am not even gonna analyze the game because both offensively and defensively its a huge mismatch....Except at one position. Both Ball and Wright are quality QB's. 41-17 Canes

South Carolina/Clemson- Look for a let down from the Game Cocks. They have over achieved all season long and their lack of depth will finally catch up with them against the Tigers. Tommy Bowden wins his annual 7 games and keeps his job for another year. 24-21 Tigers

I blew last week and ran my record straight up to 19-12....shoot I am getting worse with my picks not better!!! :) Have a great football weekend!!!

This weeks PICKS!!!

Don't have much time so my discussion will be brief!!!

UF/South Carolina- Look for this game to be really close until the 4th quarter. No matter what anyone says UF still has more talent than USC. That gives them the edge UF21-USC17

FSU/Clemson- A bounce back game for the noles. Look for this game to be close throughout. A last minute field goal lifts the Noles over the Tigers...FSU24-Clemson21

Alabama/LSU- It gonna be tough for either team to score in this game. Could we have a repeat of the UA/Tennessee game? Personally I think UA is gonna come out and get the job done...but the prognosticators say otherwise. Gonna go with my gut on this one Bama14-LSU10

Auburn/Georgia- Shockley is back for the Dawgs and this game is being played between the hedges. Look for a defensive struggle on both sides of the ball. Both defenses bend but don't break, this this becomes a very ball controlled type game. Tigers 28-Dawgs21

USC/Cal- Wish I could go with the bears on this one but I believe USC is just to strong. If I am wrong it wont hurt my feelings a bit. USC 41-Cal24

Meaningless game of the week

Troy/Arkansas State- The Trojans must win out and get some help to win the sun belt. This game is in Jonesboro Arkansas, so home field isn't really a big deal. If the freshman QB Foster has a repeat performance of last week look for the Trojans to prevail. T-ROY24-Indians 14

Interesting tidbit!!

I was on the way to work this morning and I happen to be tuned to "The Morning Rap" a local morning sports talk show on 98.1 the ticket here in the Florida Panhandle. They made mention of an apparent rumor that has surfaced regarding Texas A&M. According to their sources coach Fran might be fired or forced to resign at the end of the season and a leading candidate to take his place is Tommy Tubberville from Auburn. You know this might be a perfect opportunity for Tubbs to get back at Auburn for his treatment a couple years ago in the whole Petrino scandal. Dont know if this rumor has any truth to it....but it does make you stop and say hmmmmmm.

Do we look like fools !?!

Mr. Palmeiro give me a break. In an article I read earlier today, Rafeal Palmerro said it is possible that his positive steroid test could have been caused by a B12 shot? Do we look like fools to you Mr Palmeiro? You are a a roid head just like Bonds, Sosa, Canseco, Mcguire, Giambi, .....please admit your faults and move on. Your "B12" shot did not cause your positive test!! I love baseball but it has been aparent for quite sometime that steroids have played a large roll in the statistics and records of baseball over the last 15 years. Baseball lost me once with the strike in the 90's and it is loosing me again with the blatent disregard for the law the players seem to portray. Donald Fehr and the players union should be on their knees begging the fans to forgive them for their blatent disregard for the roid problem....but their not. They continue to be egotistical little rich boys that think they are all above the law.

Thumbs UP Thumbs DOWN!!

I think going forward instead of giving a recap of the prior weeks games I will simply give thumbs up or down to the good and bad of the recent college football weekend. I will also post my record regarding my previous weeks picks!!!

THUMBS UP- Miami- The Hurricanes went to Blacksburg and manhandled the Hokies. The dominance from the Canes on both sides of the ball was impressive. Kyle Wright has improved dramatically as a QB from the first game against FSU. Look out for the Canes in the BCS championship picture. The Canes will win the ACC and if Texas or USC stumble just a little the Canes might have a shot at the title.

THUMBS UP- Arizona- It was about time a team exposed the fraud that was Bruin Football. Look for big things next season for this Wildcat team. Mike Stoops is doing a fantastic job rebuilding a program that once had a defense knows as the desert swarm.

THUMBS UP- Penn State- Back atop the Big 10 and a good bet to represent the conference in the BCS. Congrats to Joe Pa and his Lions for returning that program to the top!!!

THUMBS DOWN- FSU- A few weeks ago I got all over the Gators for not being able to run the ball. Now its your turn Noles. I don't know if the O-Line is not talented, young, poorly coached, or just bad....But the noles have absolutely no run blocking ability. Zone blocking works fine if you are a pass happy team. But FSU is a team of extremely talented running backs with a Freshman QB. They should be running the ball first and passing second but unfortunately its all reversed. 7-4 is a distinct possibility if the O-Line and defensive play doesn't improve.

THUMBS DOWN- VT- PRETENDER!!!!!! VICK OVERRATED!!!!!

THUMBS DOWN- SEC REFS- I about fell out of my chair when the Vandy receiver got flagged for an unsportsman like conduct foul for excessive celebration...WTF????? If that was excessive celebration then so is every single touchdown ever scored. It's pathetic that the game was decided on a penalty. Vandy would have gone for two if not for the foul...and possibly won the game. To many times the ref's ignorance determines the outcome of the game and it needs to stop!!

MY RECORD HEADS UP!!! 17-9 (65%) This weeks picks out Friday!!!

T.O. Is a fricking self centered IDIOT!!

I don't know if I can ever recall an athlete so full of sh*&. Not only is he full of it he actually believes the fecal matter he is spewing out of his mouth. Terrell Owens is the epitome of what an athlete shouldn't be. Highly paid, spoiled brat that has NEVER learned the concept of a team. Individuality is all he is about....That and patting himself on the back for every little accomplishment. I bet when he has a good bowel Movement he tackes out a sharpie and figures out a way to sign his name to it. Its being reported he actually got into a fist fight with former Eagle Hugh Douglass and actually had the balls to call out everyone on the Eagles team.. Personally I wish Mcnabb and a few of the other leaders on the Eagles would have whooped his A$$. Someone needs to shut this guy up and the only way this in gonna happen is if he is suspended permanently from the Eagles and no other team offers him a job. Let his butt rot at home for a while. After a VERY short period of time no-one will even remember who TO is...or was!!

And here it is!!!

I told you once I found a better rendition of the stadium I woul dpost it...well here it is!!

This weeks PIIICKKKSSSS!!!

Texas/Baylor- For some reason I don't think this game is gonna be the blow out everyone is expecting. Baylor is (4-4) and a much improved football team. Guy Morris is doing everything right at Baylor and it is starting to pay off. Texas is gonna win. They are super dominant on both sides of the ball and I personally don't see them stumbling. Look for Vince Young to light up the Baylor secondary. 35-14 Horns

VT/Miami - I personally don't have any idea how to call this game. To me VT is the better team but Miami is much improved since the first of the year. Its a Matchup of two totally different style quarterbacks in Vick and Wright. The defenses of both teams are outstanding but the VT offense is slightly better than that of the Canes. Look for a nail biter till the end 28-24 Hokies

Florida/Vanderbilt - Who would have thought I would really have to breakdown this game to figure out who might win. UF is soo much more talknted than the Commodores but they just don't play like it. All it took was the win against UGA last week and a couple of Gator friends I have already have the big head again and expect to run the tables. Don't get cocky Gators!!! I do think you beat the Commodores though not by as large of a margin as you should. 21-17 Crocs

Penn State/Wisconsin - ***tosses coin in air*** 35-28 Lions

FSU/NC State - FSU needs this win to go to the ACC Championship game. In years past this game would have concerned me more than it does now. The Wolfpack have played the Noles hard the last few years and have beaten them in Tallahassee.....But not this time. Too much at stake for a letup from the Seminoles. The Pack is not that good and this game shouldn't be close. 45-21 Noles

Meaningless pick of the week

Furman/GA Southern- Its 7-1 Furman versus 6-3 Georgia Southern. When I was at Troy we traveled to Ga Southern to play a game. I have to say for a small 1AA program the atmosphere was awesome. I loved their stadium and their campus. Furman looks to be setting up for another championship run in the 1AA playoffs. Look for a close one ....28-21 Furman

Have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!!

A little nostalgic!!

I decided at the last minute to go to the FWB/Pine Forest football game last night at Etheridge stadium. It was the last game of the season before the playoffs and being on a Thursday night I figured the crowd would be small. FWB lost 28-18 behind an explosive Pine Forest rushing attack. For all the upcoming opponents of the Vikings in the playoffs I have the answer on how to beat them....run around the outside. Speed kills and FWB got squashed by a super fast Eagle team. Next week they play Pace in the first round of the state playoffs. Personally the Vikes (4-5) don't stand a chance of advancing far in the tourny but I will be behind them 100%. Right before the Pride of the Miracle Strip took the field to perform the halftime show Alexis Tibits the principal of FWBHS came on the PA and announced this would be the last home game ever played by the Vikings at Etheridge Stadium. I sat a reminisced about all the good times I have had over the past 25 years or so at that stadium. Growing up with a mom that was a Choctaw grad but knowing I was always a Viking. Watching so many games with just me and my dad, and the absolutely incredible years at FWBHS in the band and all the friends I made and still have due to that period in my life. In a way it was sad..... so I say thanks Etheridge for all the memories for me and every other Viking that has ever stepped foot on your field. We will be forever grateful.

My picks sucked last week!!

Georgia would have beat Florida by 2 touchdowns if Shockley was in their at QB for them. UF did just enough on offense to win and their defense came thru in a big way. Lets put it this way Chris Leak only managed 105 yards passing. However the Gators gutted out a big win that kept their hopes for a SEC east title intact. Good job Crocs!!! L 14-10 Gators

The seminoles have a unique way of making games close....when they really shouldnt be. The FSU offense is moving the ball thru the air nicely but the running game is still bogging down. Weatherford is on pace to win the ACC passing title this year as a Freshman. The defense is prone to give up the big play but alot of that is due to the aggressive style of coaching Mickey Andrews goes with. The Terps are not as bad as the record indicates but FSU should have put them away early. Hopefully the youth of the Noles will serve them well in years to come.
W 35-27 Noles

Big win for the Big blue. I really thought Northwestern's offnese would light up a suspect Wolverine defense but it just didnt happen. UM's defense played big and a total team effort got them the victory. Not a huge big 10 fan but this was a game that peaked my interest and it was half way entertaining to watch. L 33-17 Michigan

I should have know Spurrier would beat Fulmer. Fulmer has been Steve's bitch for a long time...and the tradition continues. I stated a few weeks ago that things were tense in Knoxville and that Randy Sanders would be gone by the end of the season as UT's offensive coordinator....well it didnt even take till the end of the season. Sanders is out as UT's O coordinator and look for David Cutcliff(former Ole Miss coach) to take his place next year. UT is pathetic....cause South Carolina sure as heck isin't good. Look for USC to go bowling and UT to stay home....Its a sad state of affairs in Knoxville and it couldnt have happened to a nicer bunch of @$$holes!! L 16-15 Cocks

At least I picked an easy one this week. So Cal is better than anyone in the Pac 10 so as long as they continue to play in the Pac 10 look for them to dominate. W 55-13 Trojans

That pushes my record to (straight up) 14-7 or 66%. Better luck next weekend!! Picks on Friday!
