The UMP's blew it!!

In last nights ALCS game between the White Sox and the Angels what should have been a strikeout turned into the winning run for the Sox. For those that didnt see it AJ Persxndhjgfhalkjdfeiin (sp) struck out swinging and the catcher fielded the ball cleanly. At no time did the ball touch the dirt after the batter swung. AJ took off for first as if the ball touched the ground after he swung and made it to first base without a throw. Mainly because the Angels catcher was half way back to the dugout and had flipped the ball out to the the pitchers mound. Eventually a pinch runner ended up scoring and the SOX won the game. My question is how can ALL of the ump's miss the call. I can understand the home plate ump missing it because of his blocked vision but the umps at first and third had to get a good look at the ball NEVER touching the ground. Furthermore it is rediculous how the umpiring crew is trying to justify their mistake by arguing what the home plates ump hand signal really meant. GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK. Admit your mistake and move on. If the ump would have said, hey I blew it...it would be a non issue for me!!
